Israel still has an opposition, still has a fairly free press, access to internet (although everything is recorded) and people can come and go freely. However, when it comes to spreading mayhem through its neighbourhood, Israel is in a class of its own, probably the most destructive nation in human history when considering its size. It uses its nuclear weapons to terrorise its neighbours whereas Nth Korea uses its to stop being terrorised.

I once read a book called the Cathedral and the bazaar.
It describes how 'free software' is structured.
How the bazaar principle is 'free' where a hierarchy is not even close to free.
