When Israeli troops entered Gaza, the great bulk of the city had been reduced to rubble by bombing or incinerated by Hellfire missiles and white phosphorous bombs (both of which are illegal against civilians). I do not believe the troops would have put their weapons down to go digging through the rubble and ashes in the hope of finding a particular book which may have escaped burning. That sort of story is just absurd.
Before going into any area of Gaza, The IDF have and continue to use a system to warn civilians to move out of the area. They use a special knocking tool on each building to inform the residents to leave the area to a designated safe zone. They make thousands of phone calls alerting the residents of impending action and they drop pamphlet from the air to also warn civilians to leave. This means they forgo the element of surprise which endangers the lives of the IDF. You really should study the writing of John Spencer and Andrew Fox and Colonel Richard Kemp for an accurate assessment of how the IDF conducted their operations in Gaza. knowing how the IDF go house to house Hamas boobytrap the buildings hoping to kill the soldiers. Israel was forced to demolish most of the buildings as a necessary measure because of this. Clearly you see Israel as the evil one which tells me everything about you. it also amuses me how you include Israel as part of the west when clearly it is in the Middle East.
There is no genocide in Gaza. And the rules of war are clear about civilian structures being used as HQ for terrorist/war activities. Hezbollah started attacking northern Israel on Oct 8 and have been doing ever since. When you attempt to hold one nation - Israel to standards that are never applied to any other nation state you clearly have a problem with Jews defending their country.

Thanks, Niall. I find your argument incredibly depressing, but, sadly, I cannot fault it. We are doomed. I don’t see that there is anything we can do. I sign petitions, donate money to good causes, and write letters to politicians, but these efforts are futile. We cannot even stop our government from approving new coal plants, nor can we prevent them from signing us up to AUKUS, so ensuring that we become even more closely connected with the American military complex.
Perhaps you’d like to comment on why the IDF found copies of Mein Kampf translated into Arabic in nearly every home in Gaza?

You seem to be unaware that destruction of civilian infrastructure is a war crime and ethnic cleansing is deemed part of the crime of genocide.
