Mmmmmm, this is grim. I read most of the article, but defaulted to reading it to describe how very large numbers of people swell and get really euphoric and wild in their behaviors, and learn that they can control others to the nth degree.
Being a good person is actually a terribly difficult thing to do. The only important moral about us humans should probably be this: THE MORE HUMANS THERE ARE, THE MORE UNMANAGEABLE THEY ARE. FEWER HUMANS MEANS FEWER PROBLEMS. (By extension, too many of any animal species works the same negative way.)
And this is why, but may I never be cultish about it, I am an antinatalist. There are 8.3 billion humans, and a vast proportion of them are very, very unhappy--and even if that's not so, the numbers make others in the animal world very unhappy, not to mention the causation of waste, pollution, and excess.
Humans are not inherently bad (IMO), but they become easily bad because power and opportunity for evil easily corrupts. Yes I do classify the Mental Health Dept in my state in Australia as another cult. They deserve to be called a cult because they compel and impose a gamut of conditions on their invols and have never supplied me with robust reasoning. Sad, but true.
Wonder if a 3 state arrangement might work - a majority Jewish state , a majority Palestinian state and a third joint Palestinian/Jewish state about half the size of Luxembourg which could be a regional hub of well being and innovation .
Belgium is a composite state of two nationalities and two languages there are tensions but on the whole people get on with each other it is roughly the same size as Israel and Palestine and with a similar population.
A fraction of the money spent on continual warfare could turn this pivotal part of the world into a haven of inspiration and innovation and contented living .
My dear chap, that is far, far too sensible. War profiteers make their money from people killing each other, not from living in peace in " a haven of inspiration and innovation and contented living ."
