I'm curious where you get your information and I'm rather interested to learn your manner of reading and digesting, if I may ask. In this case, I'm interested in military strategy and logistics. My own other sources such as mainstream news are not even close in terms of the calibre and detail as your article(s). Makes me puke that billions (often including me) are consuming the junkfood of doomscrolled trash, and I'm just looking for some reassurance of the credibility of my/your sourcing.
Who, me? I wouldn't waste time on MSM, they're just money-machines for the power elite. As for books, I read a lot but tend to devour books rather than read them, underlining, cross-referencing, taking notes etc, all of which is filed for future reference.

I've read The Economist too, thank you. Any websites at all that are quicker to get to readers but reasonably accurate would be appreciated.
Several years back, I recommended on an open channel, that world leaders play a new game (then) called "Victoria 3", which teaches about compounding investment - the more you invest, in your production, infrastructure, population, and diplomacy, you more you have to invest when you get the returns.
It seems many global south countries, along with China and Russia have fallen in love with the game.
Unfortunately, there are also such things as 'cursed runs' - where you deliberately do the opposite, mainly for RPG purposes (I personally find such pathways impossible, no matter how hard I try, my games ALWAYS go back onto the peaceful economic-diplomacy path, usually sooner rather than later. I suck at role-play, I'm always ME. I'm sure soon enough there will be an entry in the DSM regarding this..).
It does rather seem as though the psychopaths in charge of the West do enjoy those 'cursed runs', however.
Perhaps the peaceful development into advanced democracies with high standards of living for all simply aren't... interesting/enjoyable enough for them.
You raise a good point that the thought-paradigm of world leaders such as Trump is very different than that of a rational person. I believe that Trump is doggedly centred on the idea of "greatness" and conquest, and it's very strange that he was able to wrest the official position to entertain himself.
When you say "advanced democracies" I would go along with that insofar as people need a minimum amount of education on major issues. As for high standards of living, the highest is access to nature without inundations, but with the advantages of many sustainable modern-day inventions. Efficiency with ecological respect is key there.
We share much direction. An 'advanced democracy' in the game - as IRL imo - means citizenship and equal rights for all, Laws that reflect that, and a powerful Many rather than the Few. Personally, I would expand that to non-human people as well, up to and including plants - monoculture and forced "fertlisation" leaves the plant queendom as unhappy as it does us. Animals obviously included. Which means a drastically lowered human population, which to my mind means leaving the West Asian desert religions behind and finding our natural Pagan roots. But 'advanced democracies' also include Freedom of Conscience (Religion), so back to education and disestablishment of those religious organisations, and banning of childhood indoctrination.
People are generally rather intelligent until they have been made stupid.
Permaculture can feed a large population, without destroying the natural world upon which our survival and enjoyment of life resides.
Trump is almost uniquely iconic in summing up Western 'Civilisation' since Rome.
