At the end of last month, the American Psychiatric Association (APA, not to be confused with their competition, the American Psychological Association, also APA) held their annual jamboree in San Francisco.
Brilliant...the diet thing reminded me of 'Road to Wigan Pier', by Orwell. The Govn. at the time could not figure out why the family of miners or the extremely poor on welfare were not purchasing the calculated amount provided in carrots, potatoes and other vegetables. Instead, all the poor were blowing the amount on fish and chips. When you're that depressed, a good feed of fish and chips is far more appealing than a broth of veggies. All these people lived in horrible and appalling conditions, not the mention the 16 hr days, half of which were spent bent over at the hips crawling into the coal mines. Poor diet is a symptom, not a cause. I don't see any ripped, fit people with 6-packs that are standing in the line at Centrelink...great points raised here.
