I suppose it's more of a hot topic, but everything in here also applies to the mafia-state called "Ukraine". And "Ukraine" is to be the model for the rest of Europe under US/NATO domination. Incl the depopulation-by-forced-conscription.
Personally, I'm a lifelong pacifist, and an Evolutionaryist, rather than a Revolutionary (Perhaps odd for an Anarchist, but my early experiences with the hard-left Marxists did not inspire much trust in me for such people).
I gave up my dream career to return to the UK and fight for Corbyn, fx. Soft-left Liberal-Anarchist is me.
And yet even I now regretfully come to the same conclusion. It's the guillotines, or us.
It's not a happy thought.
The kind of people who come to the fore in such times are rarely any better than those they are replacing. After all, there is that same thrill of "power", such a siren song.
"Ukraine" is not a country mate. It hasn't been since 2014 when US/Nato forced the legitimate Govt out, and installed it's own regime directly - filling the country with the far-right who then went on a murderous rampage. And then the CIA just took over.
Do you know what is happening there RIGHT NOW?
The Kiev regime is building "defences" around major cities, ostensibly to protect against "Russian invasions". Barbed wire, minefields, and bunkers on roads. Except the Russians are nowhere near those cities.
What is ACTUALLY happening is a 'total conscription mobilisation'. EVERYONE is being picked up and conscripted in those cities. And those "defences" are to prevent the wiser from fleeing them. They are also now forcibly conscripting WOMEN in those cities.
And what's the locals future once conscripted? The under 35s and healthy going into the 'assault battalions' and are given training. The older and unhealthy have a different fate - no training worth the name, dropped 10 miles from the front (Trucks can't get closer due to drones), and then ordered to walk to the front - past the drones and the artillery barrages. Almost none even reach the front. The sole aim is to use them to slow the Russian advance down. Literal "meat shields".
Look up an uncensored copy of M.I.A.'s song 'Born Free', to understand what it is like for the normal Ukrainians right now.
And no country that uses WW2 Nazi insignia, who worships actual WW" Nazis like Bandera, that behaves exactly like the WW2 Nazi regimes, is going to get a "break" from me.
This war started because NATO/West had decided that Ukraine should join NATO - barely 20% of the UKRAINIANS wanted this, but since when does the West care about such democratic niceties? And Russia started the SMO on the basis of the R2P principle of the United Nations - to protect the civilians of the Donbass from the planned very real Gaza-like massacre of the Kiev regime there.
And no, I'm never going to give Israhell a "break" either, before you ask. For the same reasons.
The coming (hopefully) reduction of the gap between rich and poor will still leave a gap of some sort.
We need to start discussing the size of that gap.
I mean, can it be argued that a certain amount of wealth is needed by an individual in order to get projects done?

I'd seen the event in passing, that gave more information on it. Niall, did you catch Michael Hudson recently on Glenn Diesen's show?
He argues that the West has now gone collectively Fascist, and probably Nazi. It's hard to disagree.
